The PR industry is in the midst of the most dramatic change it has experienced since Enron and Worldcom. Today, companies are required to be more transparent and engaging than ever before. The ones who are leading the pack have a PR team that knows how to (and how not to) use social media; because you can’t go hunting like you used to. The deer have guns now.

This session is for audiences with varying levels of social media knowledge and will showcase real scenarios of social media PR done well and social media PR blunders. Here is what you can expect to learn:

Beginners: You’ll learn about why you should be paying attention to social media and how it can help you if you’re willing to use it. You’ll learn about how to monitor social media to know what people are saying about you and your organization.

Intermediates: So you’ve set up the RSS feeds, are monitoring blogs, and know what folks are saying about your company… now what? Learn about when to be proactive and when to be reactive along with an dos and don’ts of engaging people in social media. If you think you can pitch a blogger like a newspaper…we wouldn’t recommend it. You might not like the results. Learn how to enter into the conversation and engage people according to the new rules.

Advanced: You’re already monitoring and participating in social media for your company or client? That’s great! Tell me about your social media plan because I’m dying to know. Oh, you don’t have one huh? That’s okay, we’ll walk you through it.
